About Danny Douglas
A native of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, Danny Douglas began preaching the gospel at the age 15. In high school he was heavily involved in football and baseball. After graduating from college with a double major in Bible and Education, he moved to Virginia, to work as the preacher of the Floyd church of Christ in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Later, he moved back to Tennessee to teach school for 6.5 years and to work with the Riverside and Beech Hill churches of Christ in Maury County. 1987 saw him move back to Virginia, but this time to the Tidewater area to be a Christian school principal and teacher. During this time, he worked with the Chesapeake and Portsmouth churches of Christ, and taught Bible in the Humanities Department of a local college.
When he returned to Tennessee in 1993, he began working with the East Side church of Christ in Lawrenceburg, after which he did mission work in the Ukraine, and studied the Russian language, and taught Bible and American History in his own public school classroom in Sevastopol. Afterward, he moved to Wales and Cambridgeshire in the United Kingdom. This is where he met his beloved wife, Laarni T. Douglas, after which they moved back to the States and began a family together, with two precious children, Lydia and Daniel Moses Douglas. During this time, they labored with congregations in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio.
Danny has worked with the Central church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, since 2011. He began radio preaching in 1982, and has preached on the air now for some 30 years altogether. In addition to the local church, his greatest love in preaching is in evangelism and doing mission work. This includes making trips back to England and to the Philippines. He is thankful to the Lord to have the opportunity to preach the gospel of Christ and to work with the Lord’s church wherever he can, and to never be ashamed of the gospel of Christ (Romans 1:16).
